The Center for Online Learning, Teaching & Technology invites you to participate in our first campus-wide MOOC. What is a MOOC you ask? MOOC is an acronym for Massive Open Online Course.

Basically, a MOOC is a way of learning and collaborating in an online environment. Learners collaborate together over a set period of time and participate in learning activities in an open environment that anyone can join.

Our first MOOC will be somewhat limited in size, but open to all UTPA faculty members and staff. As we get closer to phasing out our current version of Blackboard (CE8) and ushering in Blackboard Learn, there are a number of changes that will be taking place. MOOC 2012, as we are calling it, is your opportunity to learn of these changes and prepare yourself in advance.

MOOC 2012 will provide a learning forum with open dialogue focused on preparing UTPA faculty and staff for changes in the Center for Online Learning, Teaching & Technology and the migration to Blackboard Learn. It is a four week online course, beginning September 17 and ending October 14. Registration is currently open through training.utpa.edu and will close on September 21, 2012.

Date: Agenda:
Week 1: Sept 17-23 Growth and Changes to Your COLTT
Week 2: Sept 24-30 The Launch of Blackboard Learn
Week 3: Oct 1-7 The Basics of Using Blackboard Learn
Week 4: Oct 7-14 Putting It All Together
All parts of this MOOC will be online in Blackboard Learn

While participation in MOOC 2012 is not mandatory, we highly recommend you take advantage of this training and collaboration opportunity to ensure your readiness for our full migration to Blackboard Learn in the spring semester of 2013.
